Description & Facts:
This town used to be refered as the Helium Capital of the world because it had one of the US most productive helium areas - fields. It is the 15th largest city in Texas with estimated 200,000 inhabitants as of 2010, eventhough the whole metropolitan area is already supposed to have some 236,000 people.
Amarillo city was originaly named Oneida. It is well connected to the rest of the country due to good transportation links via railroad. This enabled the town to become a cattle center in the 1800's.
