Description & Facts: The Gold Coast is a city in the Australian state of Queensland. It is the second most populous city in the state and the sixth most populous city in the country. Gold Coast is also the most populous non-capital city in the country. The Gold Coast is known as a major tourist destination with its sunny subtropical climate, surfing beaches, canal and waterway systems, its high-rise dominated skyline, nightlife and rainforest hinterland. Captain James Cook became the first European to note the region when he sailed along the coast on 16 May 1770 in the HM Bark Endeavour. We actually stayed at Surfers Paradise, a suburb on the Gold Coast. Surfers Paradise is a major tourist destination for travellers on the Gold Coast. The main attractions are probably the theme parks, such as Dream World, Whitewater World, Movie World and Wet n' Wild parks. From Surfers Paradise is also possible to do diving and water sports.
