Philippines, Biliran province, Balaquid waterfalls. |
Description & Facts: Biliran province is a genuine tropical paradise for nature lovers, eco-trekkers and a stressed city chap like me. The island is very green and clean and it is a pleasure travelling around on a motorbike or a boat. Around every corner is something new to discover and the friendly locals are eager to assist if you are in need. It truly is an adventure not to be missed. If you reach Cabucgayan or Bunga and if you have the guts, don´t miss the local coconut wine, called tuba. Those places are famous for their tuba and they even deliver it to Manila and Cebu. However, this treasure, this hidden waterfall, is so graceful, and it looks almost fragile when the water gently touches the lava rocks on it´s way down the narrow ravine. I feel we have to be responsible to this little treasure and treat the environment with care and respect. For a brink of a second the sun shines from that little opening far up, and a rainbow glowes. If I havn´t felt taken in before, it sure is the right time now. It is with true happiness and respect for this untouched beauty that I cool my self off in the natural pool after the climb. Lucky, lucky me.
