Description & Facts: Part 2 - This video presentation gives a short historical look into the sailing career of the great Cunard Line steamship, RMS Queen Mary and her 31 years of service from 1936-1967. When constructed, she was equipped with greatest assembly of propulsion machinery ever to go to sea... but after her retirement and rebirth as a floating hotel, museum and convention center in Long Beach, California, the history and science behind her once-impressive boilers and engines was stripped, scrapped and forgotten. The Yarrow Project is a unprecidented restoration and recreation proposal for this great ship... to cosmetically restore/recreate the boilers and machinery of two of her massive boiler rooms.
